From Afundación and ABANCA we promote cultural development of society by making all our artistic heritage available
The artistic heritage of a village reveals its culture and personality, it is the result of its creative genius throughout the evolution of history; for all this, the art that has emerged in Galicia combines cultural, aesthetic, emotional, personal and historical value. With this judgement as a basis, the Afundación Art Collection holds more than 5,000 works, mainly by Galician artists born in the 19th and 20th centuries, and tirelessly watches over their conservation and dissemination with the utmost commitment and rigour. The objective of Afundación Art Collection is to put in value the creativity, and the important contributions of the represented artists, with the intention of tracing with them a historical and plastic route by the art arisen from and in Galicia throughout last the two hundred years.
The Afundación Art Collection was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in Galicia in 2015, thus reinforcing its commitment to the society from which it was born.
The ABANCA Art Collection forms an extraordinary cultural heritage that makes it the most important corporate art initiative in Galicia, and one of the most important in Spain. It is made up of a total of 1,369 works of art whose backbone is modern and contemporary art. Among the more than two hundred artists represented, we can discover different themes and styles, as well as works produced in various media and formats such as paintings, sculptures, photographs, engravings, drawings, and installations.
Also, part of ABANCA's heritage is a bibliographic collection, made up of 3,217 records, with a great variety of themes in a humanist interpretation of culture. This bibliographic collection has in itself a special value as a cultural legacy for future generations.
